First it's TSA all up in our business, literally. Now, according to an article that appeared on the blog site, OpenSalon, we have to watch where we step. The article was entitled, "Outlawing Occupy: H.R. 347 Makes Free Speech A Felony".
Apparently, once the bill, HR 347 is signed, it will "empower federal agents to arrest and bring felony criminal charges against citizens engaged in political protests anywhere in the USA".
The question remains as to how far they will push this. If it's anything like the TSA, who started out with a wand and a scanner, now they like to stick their hand up our crack and politely fondle us. I think it's safe to say that this bill will limit even a casual conversation at the grocery store.
"Current law makes it illegal to enter or remain in an area where certain government officials (more particularly, those with Secret Service protection) will be visiting temporarily if and only if the person knows it's illegal to enter the restricted area but does so anyway. [H.R. 347] expands current law to make it a crime to enter or remain in an area where an official is visiting even if the person does not know it's illegal to be in that area and has no reason to suspect it's illegal".
"Obviously aimed at the Occupy Movement, these modifications to U.S. Code Title 18 Section 1752 will seriously diminish the right of American citizens to petition their Government for a redress of grievances by outlawing protests where key government officials or other VIP's may be nearby. Federal law enforcement agents will be empowered to bring these charges against Americans engaged in political protests anywhere in the country, and violators will face criminal penalties that include imprisonment for up to 10 years".
I really think that I need to write an article about Apple Pie and Baseball, just to remind myself that I live in the good ole USA, because lately, most every news item sounds like it is coming out of a Communist Block Country. Seriously, things are not looking good. We are being told what we can and cannot eat, and they are striving to prevent people access to Natural Health Supplements, but in turn they will give us a Government-run Healthcare Plan. Gee! Nothing excites me more than a healthcare plan run like DMV.
Maybe I'll just click my heels three times and say, "there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home. I'll either open my eyes to find its a beautiful day or end up in Guantanamo Bay, because the whole clicking heel thing could be misconstrued as a protest.
