Zombie Rage Virus

An unstoppable viral plague sweeping across humanity, transforming people into mindless monsters with cannibalistic tendencies.

According to National Geographic, a combination of rabies and a flu virus could have the ability to spread quickly through the air, providing the makings of a real-life Zombie Apocalypse. Perhaps I should rephrase that to Zombie-like Apocalypse, in the humans can not actually return from the dead. Dead is dead. but such a virus could cause such things as such as anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, and (hopefully for everyone else's sake) paralysis, but depending on its composition it could do so much more, according to a virologist, from the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine. According to Dr. Andreansky, "If a rabies virus can mutate fast enough, it could cause infection within an hour or a few hours. That's entirely plausible. Airborne Rabies would create "Rage Virus. National Geographic pointed out that in order for the rabies virus to create a Zombie Pandemic, like those seen in the movies, it would also have to be much more contagious than conventional rabies. I'm just wondering if this might be a good time to point to the myriad of Chemtrails, cris-crossing our skys. Yes, I know that would be silly, since everyone knows that a Chemtrail is for Weather Manipulation, but what about all those times when we see the lines in the sky and our weather remains the same? However, to think that THEY would put something in "the mix" that might harm us would be rediculous. Heck, you'd have to be a real Conspiracy Nut-Job to think along those lines (let's hope that mild side-stepping satisfies the members of the Alphabet Agencies). I like to keep everyone happy!

But getting back to Zombies eating your face off... Such a virus is possible. All it takes is a little human manipulation or a mistake with the genetic code of the rabies virus during dene replicaton or even damage from ultraviolet light.

With the help of a team of researchers, epidemiologists, we were able to find out that, today alone, there were 15 cases of Rabies and 16 cases of pseudorabies across the United States. Keep in mind, that these are only the ones that went detected and most importantly, reported to a Health Agency.

When asked if she really thought such a scenario was truley possible, Dr. Andreansky explained, "Sure, I could imagine a scenario where you mix rabies with a flu virus to get airborne transmission, a measles virus to get personality changes, the encephalitis virus to cook your brain with fever"—and thus increase aggression even further—"and throw in the ebola virus to cause you to bleed from your guts. Combine all these things, and you'll get something like a zombie virus,".

But for all of us Zombie movie fans, we all know that Milla Jovovich will be there to save us. In her hip-high chaps, long, leather coat and armed to the teeth.

What was I talking about? I got totally distracted. Oh yes, Zombies.

Personally, I think we have bigger concerns, such as Economic Collapse, Super Volcanos, the return of the Nephilum, or maybe a killer virus. But is it possible that the killer virus could be tanted with Rabies? That's something we'll have to wait and see. When we see our neighbor walking down the street, foaming at the mouth and chewing on an arm - well I think we'll be better equiped to make that call then. For now, we can simply enjoy watching Milla kick some Zombie butt in Resident Evil. That works for me!

Finally, A Cure for Everything!

Well, almost everything.

Australian researchers have been astonished to discover a cure-all right under their noses -- a honey sold in health food shops as a natural medicine.

Far from being an obscure health food with dubious healing qualities, new research has shown the honey kills every type of bacteria scientists have thrown at it, including the antibiotic-resistant "superbugs" plaguing hospitals and killing patients around the world.

Some bacteria have become resistant to every commonly prescribed antibacterial drug. But scientists found that Manuka honey, as it is known in New Zealand, or jelly bush honey, as it is known in Australia, killed every bacteria or pathogen it was tested on.

It is applied externally and acts on skin infections, bites and cuts.

The honey is distinctive in that it comes only from bees feeding off tea trees native to Australia and New Zealand, said Dee Carter, from the University of Sydney's School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences.

The findings are likely to have a major impact on modern medicine and could lead to a range of honey-based products to replace antibiotic and antiseptic creams.

Professor Carter's two sons, Marty, 8 and Nicky, 6, think it's funny the way their mother puts honey on their sores. But she swears by it, telling stories of how quickly it cures any infection.

"Honey sounds very homey and unscientific, which is why we needed the science to validate the claims made for it," she said.

The curative properties of various types of honey have been known to indigenous cultures for thousands of years, and dressing wounds with honey was common before the advent of antibiotics.

"Most bacteria that cause infections in hospitals are resistant to at least one antibiotic, and there is an urgent need for new ways to treat and control surface infections," Professor Carter said.

"New antibiotics tend to have short shelf lives, as the bacteria they attack quickly become resistant. Many large pharmaceutical companies have abandoned antibiotic production because of the difficulty of recovering costs. Developing effective alternatives could therefore save many lives."

Professor Carter said the fascinating thing was that none of the bacteria researchers used to test the honey, including superbugs such as flesh-eating bacteria, built up any immunity.

She said a compound in the honey called methylglyoxal -- toxic on its own -- combined in unknown ways with other unidentified compounds in the honey to cause "multi-system failure" in the bacteria.

The results of the research project are published in this month's European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
